Winter is well and truly here and I’ve found the perfect cosy hideaway spot, White Rabbit Brewery, Geelong. This brewery is one of Geelong’s newest spots and boy does it deliver. From the moment you walk in it’s not hard to see that this place has a wonderful vibe. With stage front viewing of barrels, brewing machinery an open fire, large industrial leather couches and a menu to “wow” this place has all the makings of the next best trending spot in Geelong.
White Rabbit is particularly building up a reputation for it’s unique fermentation of dark, pale and white ales. Tastings are available throughout the week and with a menu devised to compliment the ales, the food and drink here go hand in hand with one another. With my mother and a dear friend by my side we set out to try the best the menu had to offer. Unfortunately with a bad case of gluten intolerance working against me I can’t speak for the ales, but I can speak for the beautiful menu White Rabbit offers. Amongst the three of us we devoured the duck cassoulet, a ploughman’s board adorned with aged french jamon and pickled vegetables, and a generous serving of mint and zucchini soup.
Think rustic, think hearty, think quality, think perfectly balanced and then you have an understanding of what this menu offers. It’s comfort food done simply but to perfection. The quality of the produce used is evident throughout this menu showing all the more that food doesn’t have to be fancy to be good. It just needs to be plain and simply good.
This place is located right next to Little Creatures Brewery and perfectly compliments the vibe that Little Creatures offers. Whilst all the post work drinks are going on at Little Creatures on a Friday arvo you can sneak into the comfort zone that is White Rabbit Brewery, snuggle up next to the crackling fire and settle in for a cosy winter’s evening.
